Our participants will stay in the capital, making much of their life here and being able to enjoy its charming neighborhoods and all the leisure and cultural possibilities that this great Spanish city can offer you. They will also have the pleasure of being able to move throughout Gran Canaria; different bus lines connect the capital with great success to the rest of the municipalities and places of interest of the island in less than an hour.
Gran Canaria is one of the 8 islands that make up the Canary Islands. Of volcanic origin, it has an area of 1.560km², with a population of almost 900.000 inhabitants.
The island is popular for its great tourist and environmental interest. It is as well known for being one of the main tourist destinations worldwide, as for its great biological and cultural diversity. All these peculiarities have meant that in 2005 it was declared ‘Natural Reserve of the Biosphere’ by UNESCO.
Here they can be found from white sand beaches, to subtropical forests; moving, for example, in a few kilometers from a sandy desert on the coast to a pine forest in the center of the island.
The capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is the largest city in the Canary Islands and the 9th largest city in Spain. It develops an important part of the business movement and is one of the economic engines of the archipelago.
In addition, the city has the ‘Puerto de la Luz’ port, which, after being the first port in history in the Mid-Atlantic, today, thanks to its strategic position, is placed among the 100 most important ports in the world.
